Pinball FX2 Introduction:

Pinball FX 2, stylized as Pinball FX2, is an engaging pinball video game available on Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows (compatible with XP and higher). It serves as the sequel to its predecessor, Pinball FX, and was developed by Zen Studios, with Microsoft Studios as the publisher. The game was initially launched on October 27, 2010, through the Xbox Live Arcade service.


This sequel introduced a range of new features, including local multiplayer functionality and the option to customize table settings to suit player preferences. Importantly, players could also bring over all the tables they had previously acquired in Pinball FX.

On October 27, 2012, two years after its initial Xbox Live Arcade release, Pinball FX 2 made its debut on the Windows 8 platform via the Windows Store. It later became available on other Windows platforms through Steam on May 10, 2013. Furthermore, in February 2012, Zen Studios announced plans to release Pinball FX 2 for Windows Phone.

Gameplay:


Pinball FX 2 retains the fundamental rules of traditional physical pinball machines but places players in a virtual environment. Players launch a steel ball onto the playfield using a plunger and then control flippers to keep the ball in play. They can also nudge the virtual machine to influence the ball's trajectory. As the game progresses, the tables become increasingly complex, offering new paths and opportunities for players.

The game offers various interactive features, such as the utilization of the Xbox Live Vision camera for flipper control and video chat with Xbox Live opponents. It incorporates leaderboards and online multiplayer, accommodating up to four players, as well as split-screen multiplayer. Multiplayer games involve competing to achieve the highest score, which can be adjusted from 10 to 100 million points. Additionally, penalties can be set for losing a ball, resulting in score deductions ranging from 5 to 25 percent.

Pinball FX 2 is accessible for free and includes tables that can be played either with a time limit (on Xbox and Steam) or with video advertisements (on Windows 8 and Windows 10). Players have the option to download an expansion pack known as Pinball FX 2 Core, which unlocks four tables: BioLab, Pasha, Rome, and Secrets of the Deep. Additional tables are available for individual purchase or through compilations.

The first compilation, called Pinball FX Classic, encompasses four tables from the original Pinball FX. Players who previously purchased Pinball FX receive the Classic collection and any other tables they bought for that title, free of charge. The second compilation, Marvel Pinball, features four pinball tables themed around prominent Marvel Comics characters: Blade, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Wolverine. Achievements in the game are tied to the individual tables, allowing Pinball FX 2 to offer a substantial 2,200 gamerscore and 100 achievements on Xbox Live Arcade. Players can also fine-tune and configure each table through the game's Operators menu, enabling adjustments to the placement of table elements and the point thresholds required to unlock special sections and features.

Over time, Pinball FX 2 received additional tables, including the Mars table on April 20, 2011, and the Ms. Splosion Man table on August 31, 2011. In a gesture of appreciation to the game's fans, the Paranormal table was made available for free from October 26 to November 2, 2011. On September 4, 2012, a table inspired by the popular game Plants vs. Zombies was released for both Pinball FX 2 and Zen Pinball 2 on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. Finally, on December 12, 2012, four tables from Zen Pinball were introduced to Pinball FX 2, with the last remaining PlayStation 3-exclusive table based on Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 eventually becoming available on the Xbox One version on December 4, 2014, eliminating all exclusivity for Zen Pinball tables.
